“Successful people just start.” – Noah Kagan

My sweet bride and my kids tell me that I can be verbose. I hope I do so winsomely. Hope springs eternal. If you are curious for the story, you are invited to read on to your heart’s content. If you are pressed for time, here is today’s bottom line—the rub, as the ever-unnamed “they” say.

I am making and selling some of the yummiest, best-tasting peanut butter around.

I am producing the savory-sweet concoction in a squeaky-clean commercial kitchen.

I will hand-deliver or ship a 16 oz. portion on or before March 21 of this year (2025).

I am taking pre-orders. If you want to get some, send me some money.
“Scot, can I buy 2 or…?” Sure. If you are long-distance DM me on X (@scotphegley), Instagram (@scotphegley), Facebook, or something and we can do better on those pesky shipping costs.

$15 for locals (Nashville, Tennessee, and Birmingham, Alabama)

$25 (packaged and shipped with love) if you are not close enough for us to grab a coffee together today. I feel a tinge of sadness typing that. Truly. Would not meeting up for coffee today be so good? Shipping is so expensive. Oh! And I will need your preferred mailing address! Anyway, that expensive shipping situation, I hope to figure out how to make and ship this wonderful stuff more economically, but for el primer dia, it is what it is. Going to let that be.

Want some? Send money via Paypal ([email protected]) or Venmo (@scotphegley); even Apple Pay would work for those of you who have my pocket computer digits.

Things I should tell you. This product does contain some sugar. It contains less than most of the best-known brands. But it does contain some sugar. Typically, all of the ingredients that go into making it are gluten-free. I was surprised to see that, but it is true.

I feel like I should put a cap on the number of orders. I could end up over-committed. But that is my optimist talking. He does that. If something crazy happens, I will close down orders.

My goal #2 is 30 for batch numero uno. My goal #1 is to ask. Success!

Story. Ok. Here we go. The rest of the story, or part of it anyway.

I have been making, enjoying, and sharing my own trail-mix-inspired artisan peanut butter for a very long time. I have thought about making it and sharing it with the world for a very long time. I am talking a very long time. Too long. I need to either “do my business”, “make some transactions”, or give up the room. “Do your business” and “make some transactions” are little loving ways I encourage Shawnee, our amazing family dog, to get on with the less exciting but necessary stuff when we go outside and have more important things to do. Like make and eat delicious peanut butter, for instance.

What else might I tell you about this? I read a great book that I strongly recommend. In truth, I have read too many books. I have read so many books, blogs, and the like about entrepreneurship over the years. This book was great for me for so many reasons. I will refrain from sharing them all here. Another day, perhaps. And a truth (for Kent), I listened to the book at 1.5x on Audible. The book is Million Dollar Weekend by Noah Kagan. You can get it everywhere. I dig Audible. I recommend it. Even if, like me, you know that you already have everything and more than you could want or need.

Today, I go from being a “Wantrepreneur” to an entrepreneur. If I invited you inside on this little endeavor, you hold a very special place in my world. And you can stay even if you are not inclined to pre-order. Seriously. Thank you for being you and being in my little world. How amazing for me. Seriously. How completely amazing for me. Thank you.

I need to wrap this up. This special recipe peanut butter tastes great spread on all sorts of things. Apples are a dandy choice. On bananas, it is a little messy, but worth all of the trouble and fuss. Dress up your favorite honey and oat granola bar. My lives-in-paradise cousin in California enjoyed it on his pancakes. Blew my mind. My buddy, Joe Bradley, was the first to spread the stuff onto a quality chocolate bar. Welcome to the high life. Need to stay trim or get back to your fighting weight? I suggest eating it on celery.  It is also quite good Ted Lasso style, simply with a SPOON. A small Nalgene filled with the stuff and tied up with a spoon has accompanied me on many a long trail, stuffed into my spare water bottle holder. That is why there are two of those things on my pack! On one of those treks, I started calling it “The Hiker’s Delight”. Indeed. This one’s anyway.

If you have read this far, you are something else for sure. Thanks for hanging with me. I have run the numbers. Peanuts are expensive. Shipping costs are always surprising. In the long term, making the stuff may not be viable or scalable. Who knows. Does not matter a whit!

I need to make and sell some. Who’s in?

So happy to be your friend,

Scot

P.S. If you are still here. Poke around and check out the songs. They are pretty good, and I am sharing them for the joy of it. Enjoy! Better yet, hum, sing, or harmonica along.
